Grammostola rosea Care

Grammostola rosea Image

Distribution: South America

Housing: Plastic storage containers, aquariums, etc.

They should be housed in a container that provides adequate ventilation and maintains the proper humidity. A shallow water dish should be provided, along with a hide. The hide can be any structure that is non-toxic and is large enough for the tarantula to be able to fully conceal its body behind it.

Substrate: Peat moss or coco fiber

Place 2.5-4 in. or 6.25-10 cm of slightly moist peat moss or coco fiber over the bottom of the enclosure and when the substrate begins to dry out remoisten it.

Temperature: 70-85°F or 21-29.5°C

Humidity: 65-80%

Diet: Crickets or roaches

Feed the tarantulas crickets or roaches that are smaller than the tarantula itself. Feed them approximately 1-2 crickets or roaches a week. Remove prey if it has not been eaten within 24 hours and also remove any remains of eaten prey, such as legs, wings, etc. If the remains are left for an extended period of time an infestation of mites may occur.
